New Year's Resolutions
Eat healthier. Exercise more. Save money. Do these resolutions sound familiar? With the dawn of a New Year, we all have the best of intentions. It’s the perfect time to start fresh. To do better. To do more. Yet, in reality, very few people follow through on their New Year’s resolutions.
Changing old habits is difficult. It takes a conscious and sustained effort which is probably why only one in 10 people succeed in sticking to their resolutions. That being said, there’s no reason why you can’t be that one in ten. Here are some tips to help you stick to your guns in 2019!
Focus on one important thing
If your list of resolutions is a mile long, you won’t get far. It’s hard enough to change one habit, let alone trying to change your whole way of living in one go. Instead, pick one important aspect of your life and focus on that.
Think about what will benefit you the most
Trying a new sport might be fun, but is it really what will benefit you the most? Maybe, but if health is your concern, maybe you should be focusing on eating healthier, or kicking your smoking habit for good. Really think about what you need before deciding on a resolution.
Keep it real
If you’ve never hit the gym before, resolving to go every day of the week might be a bit of a stretch. You’re setting yourself up to not meet your goals which will result in disappointment. Be realistic. Start with a couple days of the week and work your way up.
Easier said than done right? When the day to day grind sets in, it can difficult to keep sight of why your resolutions matter.
