How to Celebrate World Health Day

Every year, on April 7th, we celebrate World Health Day. And every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) chooses a specific health theme to guide the conversation.

This year’s theme is universal health coverage. In an article published by Reuters, the WHO said, “At least half the world’s population is unable to access essential health services and many others are forced into extreme poverty by having to pay for healthcare they cannot afford.”

Universal health coverage is a major concern, and this year’s theme aims to shed a light on the issue. The WHO’s goal is to ensure everybody, everywhere has access to affordable, quality health services. World Health Day is a chance for people all over the world to support this goal.

It’s also a chance to reflect on our own lifestyle and choices. What do we do that’s maybe not so healthy? How can we develop better habits? How can we avoid the need for healthcare altogether!

This year, at VanGo, we're celebrating World Health Day by making healthier decisions in our own lives. We went around and asked everyone on the team to make a resolution for their health. We wanted to share some of those goals with you, and hopefully, inspire you to make your own healthy resolution.

Here’s how we’re celebrating World Health Day at VanGo, and how you can to:

Switching out Sugary Sodas for Water

We won’t name names, but there are a few of us who really love our sodas. Root Beer, Coca Cola, Sprite... all these drinks contain on average 40 grams of sugar a can! That’s way more than your max recommended sugar intake. We all know how addictive sugar is, and the havoc it can wreak on your body. So even though we love our Root Beer, we’re cutting down and drinking water instead. When the craving really hits us, we’ll flave The Root instead!

Starting the Day Off Right

Life is busy, and it’s easy to rush out the door in the morning without eating breakfast. Yet breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gets your metabolism going, boosts your energy and wards off unhealthy cravings. So, we've decided to give breakfast it’s due. We’re making a high protein breakfast a part of our day, and for a sweet fix, we’ll flave some Belgian Breakfast

Cutting Down on Candy and Donuts

It’s no secret that we love our candy and donuts here at VanGo. On any given day, there’s a box of donuts in our staff room! Yet we know that these snacks aren’t the healthiest. They’re full of refined sugar, so we’re making a resolution to cut down. Luckily, we have the perfect substitute for the real deal. Our Sugar Lane Collection is made of three delicious candy flavors to satisfy our cravings, and one of our favorite flavors, Cinnastix, tastes just like delicious churros.

Even small changes like these can make a big difference to your health over time. Little things add up after all. We hope that you join us in celebrating World Health Day this year, and substitute some of your favorite unhealthy snacks for calorie-free e-juices!
